After 10 weeks of great research work over the summer, it is time for us to say goodbye to undergraduate students Will Dhana and Olivia Barbieri! Olivia and Will, from Barnard College and Florida State University respectively, joined the Wirtz lab in the context of the very selective REU summer program organized by the Johns Hopkins Institute for Nanobiotechnology ( learn more about the program here: https://inbt.jhu.edu/nanobio-reu/).

Over their time in the lab, Olivia worked under PhD student Andre Forjaz on a project titled “3D Mapping of Rhesus Macaque Brainstem Tissue using CODA” and Will worked under PhD student Lucie Dequiedt on project titled “Comparison of the Normal Pancreas Microanatomy to that of Individuals of High Risk for Pancreatic Cancer”. They both presented a poster at the CARES symposium in July and made great final oral presentations at the INBT symposium in August.
